Meyer, born in Strasbourg, pursued his particular interest in the harp in Paris where, in 1767, he published a method for the instrument. He was at one time a student of J.S. Bach's student Müthel. He settled in London in 1784, where he is said to have been the first performer there on the pedal harp. Highfill et al, Vol. 10, pp. 208-9. Item #16802
