A German composer and organist, Kindermann's "was the most imaginative and adventurous music written in Nuremberg in the 17th century: he adopted all possible means for the expressive setting of a text. He is important too in the teacher–pupil tradition in 17th-century Nuremberg that began with his teacher Johann Staden and continued through Kindermann to his foremost pupils Heinrich Schwemmer and Georg Caspar Wecker, who taught Johann Krieger and Johann Pachelbel."
