1 page. Octavo. Dated Darmstadt, January 17, 1917. On stationery with "Generalmusikdirektor Felix von Weingartner Großherzogliches Hoftheater/Darmstadt" and "Darmstadt, den [blank] 191[blank]" printed at head. In German (with translation).

Weingartner is orchestrating his fourth symphony and working on a comic opera.

Felix Weingartner served as Generalmusikdirektor (Kapellmeister) in Darmstadt from 1914 to 1919. His fourth symphony, op. 61, in F major, was completed in 1917. The "operatic work" mentioned in the letter was probably Die Dorfschule, op. 64, first produced in Vienna in 1920. Item #23689
