Heinrich Conried became general manager of the New York Metropolitan Opera in 1903 and remained until Gatti-Casazza took over in 1908. He is particularly distinguished as having been responsible for bringing Enrico Caruso to the Met in 1903 and, later, Fremstad and Farrar. The American premieres of both Parsifal and Salome were both presented under his stewardship. Item #24423
