Impression occasionally light or smudged; light to moderate foxing; final leaves bumped at lower outer corner.

A re-issue of the 1843 edition. AWV p. 417. Brandus took the edition over from Troupenas, whose business he bought in 1850; he added his own plate number to the outer pages of the first signature only.

First performed on January 10, 1829, La Fiancée was Auber's first opera after his breakthrough with La Muette di Portici. The present work is distinct from Auber's much later opera La Fiancée du Roi de Garbe (AWV 49, 1864), the libretto to which is also by Eugène Scribe (1791-1861). Item #25282
