Belshazzar's Feast was first performed at the Leeds Festival on October 8, 1931, with baritone Dennis Noble, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Leeds Festival Chorus, conducted by Marcolm Sargeant. It remains one of Walton's most celebrated compositions.
