Drypoint engraving entitled "Abendliche Landschaft." Robert SCHUMANN, Martin Schoppe.

Drypoint engraving entitled "Abendliche Landschaft."

100 x 98 mm. + wide margins. Printed on ivory laid paper and matted. Titled and signed with the artist's initials in pencil at lower margin. No. 2 of an unspecified limited edition.

From the collection of the noted Clara Schumann scholar Nancy Reich.

Schoppe, a musicologist and artist, was director of the Robert Schumann-Haus in Zwickau from 1965-1992 and head of the Robert Schumann Society in Zwickau from 1990-1996. He lived in Liechtenstein, where he created a substantial body of artwork, both paintings and prints. He often made gifts of his prints to friends and musicians; his work rarely comes on the open market.

His works, often inspired by nature, evidence a charming and sensitive introspection. Item #27878
