Céphale et Procris, a ballet-héroïque in three acts to a libretto by Marmontel after Ovid's Metamorphoses, was first performed in Paris at Versailles on 30 December 1773 in celebration of the marriage of the Count of Artois and Marie Thérèse of Savoy.
