Autograph letter of the noted American baritone and actor. Signed in full, with short autograph musical quotation.

1 page. Octavo. To Miss Wolff. Dated January 1, 1919. On personal letterhead with "David Bispham's Studio," address, and telephone number embossed in dark blue at head.

"In the absence of the sheets from your album, it gives me pleasure to send you my autograph in this way, and to wish you a very Happy New Year." Bispham closes with a 2-note autograph musical quotation beneath his signature.

Very slightly creased at corners and central fold; two small file holes to blank upper margin.

An American baritone and skilled actor, Bispham "made his début at the Metropolitan Opera as Beckmesser in 1896 and remained with the company until 1903. Much in demand in England and the USA in opera and oratorio and on the recital stage for several decades, he excelled in the Wagnerian roles, of which he considered Kurwenal and Beckmesser to be his best."
