"[Claussen] studied in Stockholm, making her début in 1903 at the Royal Opera, where she was engaged until 1912. She sang in Berlin, London, Vienna, Paris, Brussels and Chicago (1913–17); her Covent Garden roles (1914) were Ortrud and Amneris. She made her Metropolitan début in 1917 as Delilah and was engaged there for 15 years; her repertory included Gluck’s Orpheus, Léonore (La favorite), Fidès (Le prophète), Carmen, Marina (Boris Godunov), Brangäne, Kundry and Fricka."
