Wrappers slightly worn, browned, and creased; small stains to lower; small numerical annotations to upper outer corner of verso of upper wrapper.

Nitocri, set to a libretto by Ludovico Piossasco, premiered in Turin at the Teatro Regio on December 26, 1824.

It was composed during Mercadante's tenure as composer-in-residence at Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, a post also held by Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, and Verd

The performance represented by this edition took place in Autumn of 1830 at Milan's Teatro Lirico (then Teatro della Canobbiana) and featured scenic designs by La Scala's chief designer, Alessandro Sanquirico. Item #31711
