Der Vogelhändler, to a libretto by Moritz West and Ludwig Held, after Varin and Biéville’s Ce que deviennent les roses, was first performed in Vienna at the Theater an der Wien on January 10, 1891. A Hungarian translation was staged in Budapest at the Népszínház on September 12, 1891.
