The Valsette was first published as part of Kodály's Opus 3 works for piano, but was later published separately and not included in future editions.

Emil Telmányi was a Hungarian violinist well-known for performing and promoting the works of Carl Nielsen, as well as his recordings of Bach using a special curved bow.
