Double matted in pale pink/burgundy double window. Identified in the plate as "Jean Kubelik" at upper left, with "Otto Becker u. Maass" at lower left and "52" at lower right in white. Image size 132 x 82 mm., signature size 60 x 103 mm., overall size 358 x 243 mm. Framed in gilt and glazed.

Horizontal crease to signature leaf.

A noted Czech violinist and composer, "Kubelík was regarded as an outstanding exponent of the Ševčík violin method, and the essence of his art was his absolute technical mastery of a wide repertory and his depth of musical perception. He had an active concert career of over 40 years, retiring after a celebratory season of ten Prague concerts (1939-40), during which he performed nearly 50 works."
