Autograph note in black ink on Conservatoire National de Musique ... Cabinet du Directeur letterhead to an unidentified female correspondent. 1905-20. In French. Double matted in sepia/gilt double window. Image size 175 x 120 mm., autograph size 94 x 127 mm., overall size 320 x 418 mm. Gilt-framed and glazed.

"Dear Madame, Pardon me, I beg you. I was convinced that I had responded yes to you. I enjoyed the party yesterday very much, and I thank you with all my heart. To both of you, my sincerest regards."

Fauré was active as a composer, teacher, pianist, and organist. He succeeded Théodore Dubois as director of the Conservatoire in October of 1905, from where he retired in 1920.
