With printed note to head of page 2: "Rough-sketched for 2 whistlers and a few instruments about 1908. Worked out for piano, spring, 1918."

With the autograph signature of the composer to blank upper outer corner of title: "Friendly greetings to Mrs. E.O. Thompson from Percy Grainger Oct. 14, 1940."

Grainger was an Australian-American composer, pianist, and folksong collector. "Best known for his settings of British folk music, he was also an innovative composer of original works and ‘free music’, and an accomplished performer. ...
